O Botafogo-SP volta a campo nesta quinta-feira, dentro de casa, para encarar o Atlético-GO pela Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro. O duelo é importante para a pretensão das duas equipes na temporada, que buscam conseguir o acesso à primeira divisão do Brasileirão.

Para o atacante da equipe de Ribeirão Preto, Erick Luis, esse confronto com o Dragão será muito complicado e tem tudo para ser bastante equilibrado durante os noventa minutos.

– O Atlético tem uma equipe muito forte, uma das principais do campeonato. Vamos procurar fazer um grande jogo para sairmos com a vitória. Essa partida é decisiva para os dois lados. Temos que estar preparados para a batalha que teremos durante os noventa minutos. Nossa meta é sair com a vitória – disse.

O jogador ainda destacou o desejo do elenco em conquistar o acesso esse ano.

– Nosso objetivo será jogo a jogo. Vamos procurar ter intensidade para terminarmos o ano com bons resultados e, quem sabe, com o Botafogo na primeira divisão.

O Pantera está na sétima colocação, com 43 pontos, três a menos que o Coritiba, primeiro do G4. Já o Atlético-GO é o terceiro colocado, com 48 pontos.

After a few minutes of speculation, the figure was proven to be Andrew McDonald, the former Australia allrounder and soon to be coach of Leicestershire.Apart from everything else in his quite impressive CV, McDonald is a longtime friend and team-mate of Finch for Victoria, and a past source of technical and tactical advice for the younger, squatter opening batsman. Together they have shared considerable success at the domestic level, and it may be argued that Finch is enjoying the sorts of international opportunities McDonald was unlucky – largely through injury – not to have had himself.Australia’s World Cup campaign has been punctuated by knowledgable visitors, from Geoff Marsh and Ian Healy to Steve Waugh and even the former Prime Minister Bob Hawke. The first and most obvious point was that Finch has been struggling, from the moment his over-eager attempt to repeat a six off Tim Southee resulted in his off stump being plucked out at Eden Park. The second is that the Australian team’s coaching staff are not given to offering technical advice of too detailed a variety, particularly when it comes to batting.Head coach Darren Lehmann and his batting assistant Michael Di Venuto were uncomplicated figures when they played, and have maintained that sort of visage as mentors. Di Venuto’s advice in early summer that Steven Smith was “not out of form, just out of runs” proved to be the right words at the right time, but there have been other moments and other players who need more.Helpfully, though, neither Lehmann nor Di Venuto are uncomfortable with others coming in to help at times, as evidenced by the use of Marsh, Healy, Waugh and numerous others. As Lehmann has often said “you’d be silly not to” keep an ear out for numerous sources of wise counsel.Finch is helped by the fact that since the Auckland defeat, a reshuffled Australian batting order offers more of a top order buffer zone should the hyper-aggressive openers charge too quickly into the bend. Smith and Michael Clarke at Nos. 3 and 4 can play at multiple tempos, while Shane Watson’s floating commission at No. 5 or 6 sits easily alongside the more outlandish hitting of Glenn Maxwell.”When you’re under pressure you go back to your basics and I think we’ve got some really good ‘basic’ players,” Finch said. “We’ve got a lot of guys with flair, but when they’re under pressure they’ve still got a really good defence to fall back on, a really structured game.”When you look at guys like Steve Smith and Michael Clarke they’re quality Test players and that’s what you tend to fall back on and let the other guys. Guys like Maxwell play with the flair. But saying that, we’re not going to be holding back. We’re an aggressive team with bat and ball. It’s going to be a good opportunity to do it on the biggest stage.”Finch knows that whatever work he does this week, Thursday may also depend on a moment’s fortune. He was dropped before scoring when he made a hundred against England on the tournament’s opening afternoon. Against Pakistan he tried to give himself some luck by chancing an lbw referral for a ball striking middle stump, and must hope things will turn during the semi.”I referred one on middle stump, didn’t I?” Finch said with a rueful grin. “You never know. You hit a couple in the middle at the start of the innings and things seem to flow on sometimes and you get a bit of a roll on. It’s just one of those things – and when you’re not hitting them so well, to get down the other end so Davey [Warner] can take a bit of the strike.”Just try and work your way into an innings in a bit of a different way, as opposed to boundaries and trying to score quickly. It’s just one of those things. It’s not far away. I feel great, it might just be that one shot early in your innings that gets you going to make a big one.”Should Finch find his form on Thursday, it will be another feather in the red cap of McDonald, and a hopeful sign for his looming entrance into the coaching game.

Como chega o Operário-PR?

Com um início de competição ruim, o Fantasma chegou a se preocupar com a zona de rebaixamento e flertou com o perigo antes da Copa América. Após a retomada da Série B, o Operário-PR arrancou, mostrou a sua força e atualmente sonha em se aproximar do G4.

Um dos motivos para a evolução da equipe é o sistema defensivo, que não foi vazado nas últimas quatro rodadas e passa segurança ao restante do time.

Como chega o Dourado?

Junto com o Bragantino, mas em proporção menor, o Cuiabá é uma das boas surpresas da Série B. Com uma formação equilibrada e que costuma ferir os adversários fora de casa, o Dourado é um dos times que iniciam o turno final da competição de olho no acesso.

He said that his focus will turn to coaching and setting up an academy in his hometown of Chittagong.He will play the upcoming season’s Dhaka Premier League for Brothers Union after switching over from Gazi Tank Cricketers on the first day of player transfers being held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.The decision comes as a surprise, since Aftab is a few months short of his 29th birthday and still fit. But he said that the state of his playing career was what prompted the decision. Last season he averaged 23.81 for Gazi Tank and 18.20 in three first-class games.”This is my last Premier League, I don’t wish to play any longer,” Aftab said. “It wasn’t based on any emotional factors. It is completely a personal decision. This is my last year. You all please pray that I can leave on a high.””Cricket has become tough. Club officials think in a different way. I got a very low offer this year. So by putting everything into consideration, I thought this is the right time. If I had taken a bit longer, it wouldn’t be good for me. They say the Tuesday after the Bank Holiday weekend is worse than any Monday. The additional recovery day almost implores a second, maybe even third night of frivolity. For those at the Essex County Ground today, tomorrow’s inane chat about Saturday’s barbecue and Sunday’s heavy session – “What are you like?!” – can’t come soon enough.Just 121 runs were scored in the first 65 overs. The PA system blared out brass music and kettle drums around the ground throughout the lunch interval, as a cover of Pharrell Williams and Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” taunted, attempting to administer a calypso shot in the arm. There was little response, as the rate flatlined at the ECG.It was only in the last five overs of the day, before the rain arrived to wipe out the evening session, that something stirred, as 28 runs were scored thanks to a combination of the new ball and Jason Roy, always a ball of energy at the crease, regardless of the situation. He was dropped twice, on 0 and 2, by Ben Foakes at short leg. You imagine Harinath would hold firm under torture.Batting 172 balls for 42 extra runs, he packed away his drives – yes, he does have them – and played deliveries into pockets of space in front of the bat and around the corner to, eventually, reach fifty in his second start of the season, moving back to opener in the absence of Graeme Smith. All in all, he batted out 31 overs’ worth of dot balls and you could not help but feel for him when he lost his wicket to Greg Smith.It was far from a fluent innings and certainly one that will reinforce the notion among many that Harinath is a limited cricketer. But his runs have taken Surrey past 200 for a first batting point, with Davies well set on 36 and Gary Wilson at the crease to push on for further spoils in the remaining 17 overs of bonus scoring before they concentrate on establishing a lead.

O jogador de 31 anos não escondeu a satisfação pela atuação da equipe na noite desta quarta. Cássio ainda justificou que o melhor desempenho do Alvinegro dentro de casa, quando comparado aos jogos fora, é mais influenciado pela postura dos adversários em Itaquera:

– Tentamos jogar sempre da mesma maneira. Em casa, ninguém se atira para cima do Corinthians. São raras as exceções que aqui vão atacar o Corinthians. A Chapecoense não ficou tanto atrás mas também não teve chance de gol. Na final do Paulistão a gente fez isso, contra Santos também, mostrar que a gente veio para ganhar e que é dono da casa. Hoje, se não foi o melhor jogo, foi um dos melhores. Sofremos poucos perigos, mais próximos do terceiro que de levar um. A gente vai ganhando confiança, sabíamos que seria difícil no começo do ano pelas mudanças. Estamos satisfeitos.

Na sua vez de ter a palavra, Boselli falou sobre a disputa por posição com o atacante Gustavo. O argentino, que marcou seu primeiro gol da Arena diante da Chapecoense, discorda que o estilo do Corinthians muda dependendo de qual dos dois está em campo, e garantiu estar adaptado ao futebol brasileiro.

-Escuto muito isso, que quando Gustavo joga o time vai de uma maneira, quando não joga de outro. Não concordo. Tivemos vários momentos, importante é a equipe, não os nomes. O que importa é que quem entre dê o melhor para a equipe. Cada jogo que fiz, fui me sentindo melhor. Isso parte dos meus companheiros. Não é fácil se adaptar a um futebol novo, mas graças ao grupo isso foi melhor. Me sinto adaptado e com muita gana de fazer o meu melhor – disse.

Corrigimos erros após o intervalo, mas faz parte do futebol. Chegamos ao empate, tivemos chance de virar em quatro ou cinco oportunidades. O goleiro deles teve uma participação brilhante, e a vitória não veio. Vamos trabalhar bastante. Temos condições de trazer a classificação de Caxias do Sul – comentou Zé Ricardo, na entrevista coletiva após o duelo.

No início da etapa inicial, pouco antes de sair o gol do Juventude, o Botafogo esboçou uma movimentação interessante com João Paulo e Alex Santana paralelos, e Cícero mais recuado, com a bola. No entanto, a expulsão de João borrou o desenho tático, apagado de vez na etapa final – cuja pressão se deu apenas na base do abafa e sem organização alguma.

O jogo da volta será na próxima quinta-feira. Até lá, as críticas seguirão ecoando a todo vapor. Ou seja, nada de paz, que só virá no caso de uma classificação à próxima fase da Copa do Brasil, essencial para que Zé inicie o Brasileiro com respaldo para trazer uma esperada identidade à equipe.
