Aaron Ramsey post emotional farewell on Instagram

The Welsh international has had a brilliant career at Arsenal and leaves having scored 65 goals, including an unbelievable season in 2013/14 where he scored 15 from midfield.

Unai Emery and the Arsenal board though did not seem to rate him that highly and Arsenal actually withdrew their contract offer back in October, leading to the Old Lady swooping in and getting themselves an absolute bargain.

The 28-year-old is cultured on the ball, possesses great technique, has a fantastic work rate and represents a genuine goal threat from midfield.

Arsenal will miss Ramsey for all of these qualities but also because he understands the club and has a lot of Premier League experience.

The majority of Arsenal fans seem to think that the club’s treatment of Ramsey has been disgraceful and though he was given a nice send off on Sunday, the feeling is that for a player of his quality should have been handed a new contract.

Arsenal must now find a way to replace the Welshman, but to get a player of Ramsey’s talent the Arsenal board are going to have to spend a lot of money – something they are not necessarily going to do.

Love this! Southampton fans react to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s post-Huddersfield comments

[ad_pod ]

Southampton’s season ended with a whimper, as an Angus Gunn blunder gifted Alex Pritchard the opportunity to grab an equaliser for Huddersfield at St Mary’s Stadium.

The south coast outfit have been on a poor run in recent weeks and hadn’t won since 13th April against Wolves, so the opportunity to put an end to that disappointing spell was missed on Sunday.

Clearly there is some work to be done if Southampton are to realise their top-half ambitions and avoid another relegation battle next campaign, and Ralph Hasenhuttl knows it.

A Southampton fan shares his most gutting moment of the last 10 years supporting the Saints in the video below…

The Saints boss has completely transformed the feel around the club and has introduced a refreshing style of football but was unforgiving in his post-match interview, stating the need for some solid additions in the summer despite limited funds and leading many of the fans to plead with the board to back the manager appropriately in the coming months.

Barely had a chance: Leicester fans share differing views on Soyuncu

[ad_pod ]

Caglar Soyuncu has been a man left in the shadows after arriving at Leicester City last summer. He struggled to get into the side and even a change of manager from Claude Puel to Brendan Rodgers failed to help his cause.

The Turk arrived at the club as a hugely promising centre-back but his stock has decreased since he moved to the Premier League. He’s currently rated at £16.2m per Transfermarkt after an initial £19m move last year.

Le10 Sport claimed last month that Monaco had shown an interest in the player and now with the transfer window open, Leicester fans have been debating the future of the 22-year-old.

On Twitter, a poll was posted which saw 47% of people voting to see him remain as a squad player.

Below the post, supporters gave a mixed verdict on the 22 cap defender as one individual claimed he clearly had the talent. Another hinted that Soyuncu needed a period of games to bed in.

A further fan urged the Foxes to use him in a deal to bring Youri Tielemans back to the King Power permanently. The Belgian has only just recently returned to Monaco following his loan spell.

Soyuncu only played in six Premier League matches this term, appearing four times from the start.

Here’s the best of the debate.

Man United fans left disappointed with deal to sign Swansea’s Daniel James

[ad_pod ]

After a disastrous season by the club’s standards, all the signs pointed to Manchester United making a big statement in the transfer market this summer.

Ed Woodward had made plenty of noise about the club’s financial muscle (via Sky Sports), and those comments seemed to leave United fans dreaming of big-money signings and superstar names walking into Old Trafford for next season.

However, a report from Sky Sports claiming Swansea’s Daniel James is likely to become the Red Devils’ first signing of the summer transfer window, followed by Manchester Evening News reporting that they’ve fended off Brighton for his services, has left some United fans feeling underwhelmed.

Indeed, there was initial glee when United’s interest in the Welshman was announced earlier this month, but it appears that opinions have changed or at the very least, large portions of the fan base aren’t on board with the expected swoop.

Whilst a few seemed to understand the club’s direction with the signing, many took to social media to reveal their frustrations and disappointment at seeing the club trying to acquire a player from the Championship.

Could Harry Maguire be on his way to Old Trafford? Check out the video below to see why it would make so much sense…

Many appeared to question whether James would be able to make the step up to a club the size of United, and raised further questions over whether their team are attempting to sign the world-class stars that they need.

Indeed, having seen Nick Powell struggle after joining from lower-league football, many United fans appeared unconvinced by the move for James, and seem to think talent rather than youth should be the priority.

Check out some of the reaction of United fans underwhelmed by the news that they are edging closer to sign James:

Everton: Ryan Fraser could make Toffees’ European dreams come true

Everton are hoping to add players this summer that can take them into the European spots next season. With that in mind, Ryan Fraser would give them the attacking edge to help them achieve their goal.

The Bournemouth winger has played 38 games in the Premier League this season, making an impressive 14 assists and scoring seven goals in the process. Undoubtedly one of the best players outside of the top six, the Scotsman’s reportedly got admirers all over the country, and The Sun’s Alan Nixon believes the Toffees have a ‘major interest’.

While he also mentions Arsenal are working on making their interest known too, Fraser could become a club legend if he signs for Everton. Indeed, he needs to take advantage of this huge season and take a step up, but not a step too far as Arsenal would be.

The 25-year-old can be part of the exciting project Everton have in mind. Their attacking style would be attractive to Fraser and his direct nature would work wonders at Goodison Park. Frankly, it seems like a match made in heaven.

He’s rated at £16.2m on Transfermarkt and that seems a favourable price for Everton considering his age and potential impact. Obviously, Bournemouth would surely demand more than that but as a marquee addition, the former Aberdeen star is the kind of upwardly mobile talent the club are in desperate need of. Granted, any potential arrival could impact the playing time of Bernard, but competition is healthy, and it might just improve both players’ abilities.

The Toffees would go some way to reaching their goal of European football if they can snatch Fraser from Bournemouth this summer. He’s exactly what they need, so Marcel Brands needs to get a move on and sign him before Arsenal do instead.

Pundit View: Darren O’Dea is backing Neil Lennon to be a big success at Celtic

[ad_pod ]

Former Celtic defender Darren O’Dea reckons Neil Lennon can cope with the high expectations at Celtic Park and be a success during his second spell as manager, as reported by The Daily Record.

What’s the story?

Lennon has been offered the role of manager heading into next season and although there’s been no confirmation of his appointment, there’s an expectancy he will be in the dugout at Celtic Park when European qualifiers kick off in July.

There’s a significant amount of pressure on his shoulders after phenomenal recent success at the club, but O’Dea reackons that Lennon can handle it and maintain that level of achievement seen over the last few years.

As quoted by The Daily Record, the 32-year-old said:

Ten-in-a-row is the holy grail. There is no doubt that is where the fans’ attention is. You don’t want to be that guy, the guy who is in charge of the team that loses it. But on the flipside of that, you would be immortal if you are the guy who manages to do it.

The highs are seriously high, the lows are seriously low. That is part of being a Celtic player or manager and if anyone knows about it, it is Lenny.

You either deal with it or you don’t. Lenny knows how to deal with it. Lenny has coped with it so I don’t see that as a problem. Yes there is enormous pressure but he could come back in 10 years’ time and there would still be enormous pressure.

He has been successful, he can do the job. It was just whether Celtic felt they would give the job to him. I have no worries about whether he will do well or not – he will do well.

Watch a tribute to Celtic’s late Lisbon Lion and greatest ever captain, Billy McNeill in the video below…

High standards

Unless Celtic make significant progress in Europe, there’s really not much more Lennon can do in the job beyond what has already been achieved by his predecessor Brendan Rodgers.

Building a squad capable of winning a domestic treble three years in a row is a magnificent achievement.

Lennon of course played a part in the final part of that success, but the expectation is that he continues this after rebuilding his team this summer.

Being offered the job has certainly raised eyebrows, with some fans craving a big name manager to come in, but Lennon is no slouch when it comes to generating his own Celtic success.

Winning record

To date Lennon has been in charge of 241 matches as Celtic manager, winning an incredible 169 of them. That means he’s won 70.1% of all his matches since first landing the job in 2010. It’s an incredible record that puts him right up there with the Celtic greats.

It’s actually an even higher winning percentage than Brendan Rodgers, who won 69.8% of his matches between 2016 and 2019.

The two records are remarkably similar, so any worried Celtic fans should heed O’Dea’s words and the evidence of Lennon’s record at the club and be prepared to win the vast majority of their matches again next term.

Leeds United: Letting Lewie Coyle leave this summer would be no loss for Bielsa

With the dust having now settled from what was a roller-coaster of a season at Elland Road for Leeds United, boss Marcelo Bielsa will be looking to make some drastic changes at the club over the coming months.

Having narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last month, it could be argued that by getting rid of some of their deadwood in the summer, the Whites could redirect the funds in a way that sees them strengthen as a team.

Whereas the likes of Lucas Odunston, Joshua Rae and Alex Wollerton have already being released by Bielsa (via the club’s official website), the Argentine may be about to cut ties with another player.

According to Football Insider on May 31st, Leeds are reportedly ready to listen to offers for academy product Lewie Coyle who has only made 15 league appearances since making his debut in 2015.

If this is indeed true, it is fair to say that letting the defender leave this summer would be no great loss to the Whites as in the form of Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson, they already have better options to choose from in his position.

Although he did enjoy a fruitful 2018/19 campaign whilst on loan at Fleetwood Town, Coyle has demonstrated in the past that he is not good enough to compete at Championship level and therefore a permanent move to a third-tier side could be the best thing for his career.

Whereas selling players who have come through the ranks at a club is always subject of great debate to supporters, in this particular case, it is probably the best scenario. With one year left on the £250k-rated ace’s (via Transfermarkt) current deal at Elland Road, this transfer window represents the last opportunity for Leeds to recuperate a fee for the 23-year-old.

What do you think Whites fans? Should Bielsa sell Coyle this summer? Or does the defender deserve another chance to impress next season? Get in touch below.

Transfer request incoming: Aston Villa fans react as Brentford reject Benrahma bid

[ad_pod ]

According to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, Aston Villa have seen a bid for winger Said Benrahma rejected by Brentford.

Benrahma, 23, had an excellent 2018-19 campaign for Brentford – scoring 11 times and contributing 17 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.

According to Dorsett, Villa have had a bid knocked back for the attacker, whilst the Bees have made it clear that only ‘a huge offer’ would tempt them into a sale.

Villa are currently preparing for life back in the Premier League and it is shaping up to be a very interesting transfer window for Dean Smith’s side.

However, it appears that it will be difficult for the club to secure a deal for Benrahma, who would provide real quality in the final third of the field.

The Villa fans have been on social media reacting to the latest developments.

Mixed opinions: Tottenham fans disagree on Eriksen future

[ad_pod ]

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have mixed views on the latest speculation surrounding attacker Christian Eriksen.

Indeed, according to Football.london, Spurs are willing to offer Eriksen as much as £200,000-a-week in a bid to keep him at the club.

Whilst some of the London club’s supporters are keen for that to happen due to the Denmark international’s importance to the team, others want Mauricio Pochettino’s side to cut their losses this summer.

Eriksen will see his current deal with last season’s Champions League finalists expire at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

The 27-year-old scored 10 times and provided 17 assists during an impressive 2018-19 season. That said, Eriksen did go missing on a number of occasions.

It remains to be seen what happens with the former Ajax youngster.

And a number of Spurs supporters are struggling to agree on what should happen with the attacker – as shown by the tweets below:

Tottenham Transfer Roundup: Jota update, bid made for Clarke, Palace approach for Spurs target

[ad_pod ]

Away from the ongoing sagas involving Christian Eriksen, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso, today’s Tottenham transfer roundup brings you news in regards to a Portuguese youngster, a bid made for an 18-year-old Englishman and an enquiry for an update on an England U21 international.

Jota yet to sign new contract with Benfica

According to yesterday’s print edition of Record via Sports Witness, Spurs target Jota has not signed a new contract with Benfica as Tottenham remain interested in a deal for the 19-year-old. The Eagles are trying to quadruple the player’s salary, but that would still not put him level with most of the playing squad. Jota has a €30m (£26.7m) release clause currently.

Bid made for Clarke

Tottenham have lodged a bid for Leeds’ Jack Clarke according to Football Insider. Whilst the amount of the offer is not known, it is reportedly well below the price that the Elland Road outfit are holding out for.

Crystal Palace approach for Sessegnon

Love Sport Radio is reporting that Crystal Palace are in talks with Fulham in regards to a transfer for 19-year-old Ryan Sessegnon, with Spurs yet to make a bid for the player despite being strongly linked. As it stands, Palace are the only club to have approached the Cottagers for Sessegnon, who has refused a new contract with the Craven Cottage outfit.
