Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza believes his team has quality fast bowlers, and that the bouncy wickets in Australia necessitated playing an extra paceman

A left-arm spinner in every family, small batsmen who pack a punch, a fan base more passionate than any other: the stereotypes about Bangladesh cricket are many, only, no clichés about intimidating quicks yet exist. The World Cup in the Antipodes, though, may be where they begin to change that, says captain Mashrafe Mortaza.The experience of Shakib al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim had been critical to Bangladesh’s innings against Afghanistan, but it was the Bangladesh quicks’ opening bursts that provided the definitive period of the match. Mashrafe himself claimed 3 for 20, helping reduce Afghanistan to 3 for 3 alongside Rubel Hossain. Both Rubel and Taskin Ahmed also impressed with their pace and intensity – Rubel hitting a speed of 145kph during the evening. Their next opponents, Sri Lanka, had been rattled by the pace of the Afghanistan attack, on Sunday.”We don’t like backing our pace bowlers in Bangladesh, but we have good pace bowlers,” Mashrafe said. “After just one game, everyone is talking about Taskin and Rubel, that they can bowl well and with good pace. There is true bounce in these wickets so we have to play the extra pace bowler.”Mashrafe’s backing of his quicks comes just three days after seamer Al-Amin Hossain was sent home from the World Cup, after it was revealed the bowler had broken a team curfew on February 19. Mashrafe said his team’s performance would not be affected by the distraction, and joined bowling coach Heath Streak in welcoming the know-how replacement bowler Shafiul Islam brings with him.”The Al-Amin chapter is over in this World Cup, and we can’t bring him back even if we want to,” Mashrafe said. “I think we are one of the most disciplined teams in the tournament, and the one who broke the rules got punished.”Shafiul is an experienced player, which Al-Amin doesn’t have, and Shafiul has won us some games at this level. We will fight with what we have.”Though Sri Lanka have had a modest beginning to the tournament, Bangladesh have historically fared poorly against them, winning only four ODIs and losing 32. Sri Lanka were particularly dominant in 2014, when they kept Bangladesh winless in the bilateral series in February, before defeating them again in the Asia Cup. Kumar Sangakkara has also especially enjoyed playing Bangladesh, having hit four of his 21 ODI tons against them.”We are not really thinking of what happened last year,” Mashrafe said. “The same talk of revenge came up before the Afghanistan match as well. The past hardly matters when I am out in the middle – I don’t really think of that. We could be under pressure if we are thinking of Sangakkara’s career record. Luck matters too, and so far it has worked in our favour.”Totals of more than 300 have been common so far in the tournament, and Mashrafe said his batsmen were capable of making big scores. However, he remained wary of the threat posed by Lasith Malinga, who is yet to arrive at his best form, having recently recovered from ankle surgery.”I have spoken to Malinga today. I think it doesn’t take long to get back into form. He is the best in death bowling so I am sure those batting in the lower order will have plans about him and are preparing themselves.”

وكان الزمالك قد نجح في تحقيق فوز صعب على نظيره بيراميدز في نصف نهائي كأس مصر، بركلات الحظ الترجيحية، بعد انتهاء اللقاء بنتيجة 3-3.

وأوضح أسامة في تصريحات رسمية، أن الثنائي سيد عبد الله “نيمار” و نبيل عماد “دونجا” قد تعرضا للإصابة بشد خفيف في عضلة السمانة.

وأشار طبيب الفريق إلى أن ذلك جاء بسبب المجهود المبذول خلال المباراة وبناءً عليه تم استبدالهما منعًا لتفاقم الإصابة.

وأكد أن مدافع الفريق محمود علاء اشتكى من آلام في العضلة الخلفية قبل مواجهة بيراميدز، وبناءً عليه تم التعامل معه من خلال وضع برنامج تأهيلي خاص لتجهيزه للمباراة.

وأضاف أسامة أن محمود علاء جدد شكواه من الإصابة بين شوطي مباراة بيراميدز وبعدها تقرر استبداله منعاً لتفاقم الإصابة.

ونوه رئيس الجهاز الطبي بخضوع الثلاثي محمود علاء وسيد عبد الله”نيمار” ونبيل عماد “دونجا”  لفحوصات طبية فور العودة للتدريبات للاطمئنان عليهم.

وتطرق للحديث عن مصطفى شلبي لاعب الفريق مؤكدًا وجوب اللاعب مواصلة البرنامج التأهيلي والعلاجي الموضوع له بسبب الإصابة التي يعاني منها في وجه القدم.

وأتم مشيراً إلى خضوع شلبي لفحوصات طبية جديدة عقب العودة للتدريبات للاطمئنان على حالته وتحديد موعد عودته للمشاركة في التدريبات الجماعية.

After a few minutes of speculation, the figure was proven to be Andrew McDonald, the former Australia allrounder and soon to be coach of Leicestershire.Apart from everything else in his quite impressive CV, McDonald is a longtime friend and team-mate of Finch for Victoria, and a past source of technical and tactical advice for the younger, squatter opening batsman. Together they have shared considerable success at the domestic level, and it may be argued that Finch is enjoying the sorts of international opportunities McDonald was unlucky – largely through injury – not to have had himself.Australia’s World Cup campaign has been punctuated by knowledgable visitors, from Geoff Marsh and Ian Healy to Steve Waugh and even the former Prime Minister Bob Hawke. But McDonald was there at the behest of Finch alone, his diminishing returns at this tournament providing all the necessary impetus to call in a pair of eyes capable of making sharp observations allied to reassuring words.”It was just a good opportunity, he’s someone I’ve worked with a lot over the last couple of years – for about 10 or years now on my game – and he’s someone I feel comfortable with,” Finch said of McDonald. “And just a different voice and someone I really trust with my game and just to touch base with him was something I really needed.”He’s just someone I really trust, he’s one of my best mates and he knows a lot about the game. He’s been around my batting for a long time and I thought it was a good opportunity to get him up here for a day and have a hit. I feel like I’ve been batting nicely, it’s nice to go back to a couple of checkpoints and make sure that I’m on top of my game and feeling good and hitting the ball nicely.”That’s all I can ask and whatever will happen on Thursday will happen. I’m not someone who over-analyses it a hell of a lot.”That McDonald was there spoke for two things. The first and most obvious point was that Finch has been struggling, from the moment his over-eager attempt to repeat a six off Tim Southee resulted in his off stump being plucked out at Eden Park. The second is that the Australian team’s coaching staff are not given to offering technical advice of too detailed a variety, particularly when it comes to batting.Head coach Darren Lehmann and his batting assistant Michael Di Venuto were uncomplicated figures when they played, and have maintained that sort of visage as mentors. Di Venuto’s advice in early summer that Steven Smith was “not out of form, just out of runs” proved to be the right words at the right time, but there have been other moments and other players who need more.Helpfully, though, neither Lehmann nor Di Venuto are uncomfortable with others coming in to help at times, as evidenced by the use of Marsh, Healy, Waugh and numerous others. As Lehmann has often said “you’d be silly not to” keep an ear out for numerous sources of wise counsel.Finch is helped by the fact that since the Auckland defeat, a reshuffled Australian batting order offers more of a top order buffer zone should the hyper-aggressive openers charge too quickly into the bend. Smith and Michael Clarke at Nos. 3 and 4 can play at multiple tempos, while Shane Watson’s floating commission at No. 5 or 6 sits easily alongside the more outlandish hitting of Glenn Maxwell.”When you’re under pressure you go back to your basics and I think we’ve got some really good ‘basic’ players,” Finch said. “We’ve got a lot of guys with flair, but when they’re under pressure they’ve still got a really good defence to fall back on, a really structured game.”When you look at guys like Steve Smith and Michael Clarke they’re quality Test players and that’s what you tend to fall back on and let the other guys. Guys like Maxwell play with the flair. But saying that, we’re not going to be holding back. We’re an aggressive team with bat and ball. It’s going to be a good opportunity to do it on the biggest stage.”Finch knows that whatever work he does this week, Thursday may also depend on a moment’s fortune. He was dropped before scoring when he made a hundred against England on the tournament’s opening afternoon. Against Pakistan he tried to give himself some luck by chancing an lbw referral for a ball striking middle stump, and must hope things will turn during the semi.”I referred one on middle stump, didn’t I?” Finch said with a rueful grin. “You never know. You hit a couple in the middle at the start of the innings and things seem to flow on sometimes and you get a bit of a roll on. It’s just one of those things – and when you’re not hitting them so well, to get down the other end so Davey [Warner] can take a bit of the strike.”Just try and work your way into an innings in a bit of a different way, as opposed to boundaries and trying to score quickly. It’s just one of those things. It’s not far away. I feel great, it might just be that one shot early in your innings that gets you going to make a big one.”Should Finch find his form on Thursday, it will be another feather in the red cap of McDonald, and a hopeful sign for his looming entrance into the coaching game.

O presidente do Botafogo, Nelson Mufarrej, negou que tenha assinado um documento contrário ao projeto Clube-empresa. O dirigente foi alvo de rumores depois que aComissão Nacional dos Clubes (CNC) se reuniu na tarde da última quinta-feira, na sede da Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF). Representantes de clubes das séries A, B e C do Campeonato Brasileiro trataram sobre o tema.

O Botafogo é oprincipal clube, entre os grandes, com o projeto mais avançado sobre clube-empresa, após estudo financiado pelos irmãos Moreira Salles ter apontado a conversão em sociedade anônima como caminho para a solução dos problemas financeiros.

– Isso obviamente não procede. Não assinei documento algum. O Botafogo não assinou documento algum. Relatei à comissão de clubes, durante a reunião, o nosso projeto em curso (SPE), que corre em paralelo e que pode futuramente obter vantagens no projeto do governo – esclareceu Mufarrej.

O presidente do Vasco, Alexandre Campello, também conversou com jornalistas após o encontro e destacou que a maioria não está propensa a sair do modelo sem fins lucrativos para o empresarial. Haveria, no entanto,um consenso sobre a necessidade de mais tempo de análise sobre o projeto em tramitação no Congresso Nacional, como destacou Mufarrej.

–O ponto de concordância com os demais foi tão-somente na necessidade de se estudar mais a parte tributária e trabalhista. Eu e os demais membros do Conselho Diretor seguimos plenamente empenhados em realizar o “Projeto dos Investidores” no Botafogo e por um consenso entre os clubes no “clube-empresa” do Deputado Federal Pedro Paulo – completou o presidente do Botafogo.
