Morreu nesta sexta-feira, o advogado, empresário e jornalista J. Hawilla aos 74 anos. Delator do esquema de corrupção da FIFA, investigado nos Estados Unidos, Hawilla estava internado no hospital Sírio Libanês devido a problemas respiratórios e faleceu pela manhã desta sexta em São Paulo. O jornalista deixou esposa, três filhos e seis netos.

Deu início a trajetória profissional nos anos 60 como jornalista esportivo e tempos mais tarde, na década de 80 investiu na carreira como empresário e comprou a Traffic, que atualmente trabalha diretamente com o futebol. A empresa agencia atletas, faz propaganda no meio e é a maior agência de marketing esportivo do Brasil.

O jornalista foi um dos responsáveis pela delação dos esquemas de corrupção na FIFA, que fez com que surgisse mais 40 réus. Com ajuda de Hawilla, a operação pôs na cadeia o ex-presidente da CBF, José Maria Marin, além de suspender o mandato do atual mandatário, Marco Polo Del Nero.
