What’s the word?

According to Sport1, the Irons are set to battle Premier League rivals Everton for the signature of RB Leipzig forward Hwang Hee-chan ahead of next season.

It’s claimed that both teams were keen on signing him during the winter but the 25-year-old remained at the Bundesliga outfit at the request of manager Julian Nagelsmann, whilst it is thought he could be available for just €15m (£13m).

That’s around how much Leipzig paid Salzburg for him in the summer.

Bargain solution?

The South Korean international has not enjoyed a very good season whatsoever, scoring two goals in just 514 minutes of action, but his campaign has been hampered since he contracted coronavirus in late November.

But this is why the Hammers should pounce as one stop-start season won’t have made him poor overnight and evidently, they will be able to get him for bargain price.

Had he continued his goalscoring exploits from Austria this term, then he would certainly be commanding a far more excessive fee. At Salzburg, Hwang was hugely prolific, providing 16 goals and 22 assists, via Transfermarkt.

During his time there, he earned glowing praise from former teammate and now global superstar, Erling Haaland, who dubbed him “absolutely crazy,” “brilliant” and “so important” to the side following a goal against Liverpool in the Champions League.

Coincidentally, his playing style has been compared to that of the Reds’ Roberto Firmino, as well as the obvious likeness to Heung-min Son at Spurs.

‘Happy leading the line as part of either a duo or a front three, Leipzig’s first summer signing likes to get on the ball and has a trick or two up his sleeve to shake off a defender. Comfortable with both feet, with the strength to hold off an opponent and the pace to exploit space,’ wrote Bundesliga.com.

Furthermore, his former head coach Peter Zeidler once claimed Hwang was “exceptional” and had “brutal dynamism”.

Hwang has scored 62 goals throughout his short career and it would be on Moyes to get that lucrative form back out of him, if he were to move to the London Stadium.

Given the desperate need for a striker and their likely place in Europe next season, the Leipzig man could offer the side some much-needed experience on the big stage.

He may be finding life tough in the German top-flight this season but for just £13m, West Ham could land themselves a bargain in the Leipzig speed demon.

Writing on Twitter, reliable West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has explained that Declan Rice’s return to the side is ‘unlikely’ to come against Everton this weekend and he could miss the encounter.

The Lowdown: Moyes missing Rice

Irons boss David Moyes has been without star man Rice since he picked up a knee injury on international duty at the start of last month, with the Scotsman implementing various changes to cope.

The likes of Mark Noble have been used in the 22-year-old’s stead to partner fellow midfield colossus Tomas Soucek while traditional attacker Manuel Lanzini was even placed in that role against Burnley.

Moyes, providing his latest Rice update on Friday, remained cryptic in regards to a timeframe for Rice’s return to the side – merely stating he hopes to have the Englishman available as soon as possible (football.london).

Writing on social media, reliable insider ExWHUemployee has said Rice could miss the Everton clash this weekend and is more likely to be back for the Brighton game.

When asked by a supporter if there is any chance Rice could be fit for the Toffees encounter, Ex explained in a five-word message (via Twitter): “Unlikely, more likely Brighton game”.

According to reports, the Hammers are also set to be without Noble and Andriy Yarmolenko while Angelo Ogbonna and Arthur Masuaku have been given just ’50/50′ chances (Claret & Hugh).

The Verdict: Big blow for Hammers?

The colossal midfield star has been, arguably, Moyes’ most important player all season-long – making the most interceptions per 90 out of any West Ham player (WhoScored), being a key component of their defensive record.

England manager Gareth Southgate backed the ‘outstanding’ star earlier this season when waxing lyrical over his ball recovery in midfield (whufc.com), and as the Irons continue chasing their European dream, supporters will be praying for his return as soon as possible.

If Manchester City can do them a favour by beating top four rivals Chelsea this afternoon, depending on West Ham’s result against Everton tomorrow, the race for a Champions League spot could be blown wide open.

Rice’s return will come as a welcome boost for the final two games, but judging by this ExWHUemployee update, he is unlikely to feature at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Plenty of Aston Villa fans have been giving their thoughts to the latest update regarding Jack Grealish on social media.

The club captain, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City this summer, has missed the last 11 games through injury.

He’ll once again be absent in Villa’s home clash with Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, however, manager Dean Smith did confirm that Grealish is now ‘out on the grass’ and ‘will start training with the group tomorrow’.

Grealish has been influential for Villa this season, contributing to 18 league goals. Smith’s side have struggled without their main creative spark, picking up 12 points from a possible 33.

It appears to be a positive step for the attacking midfielder, though, who last kicked a competitive ball for Villa back in February.

أكد مرتضى منصور رئيس مجلس إدارة نادي الزمالك، أنه لديه حالة غضب من لاعبي الفريق الأول، بسبب تعادلهم مع ساجرادا في دوري أبطال إفريقيا.

وقال مرتضى منصور في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر فضائية “الحدث”: “أنا غضبان من اللاعبين والمدير الفني، أنا مشجع ورئيس نادي، لم أذهب لهم عقب المباراة لأنني خشيت أن يصدر مني أي تصرف ممكن أن يؤذي اللاعبين أو المدرب قبل سفرهم إلى المغرب، نحن لآخر لحظة ندعم ونساند”.

وتابع: “أتمنى التوفيق لهم أمام الوداد، لدي سؤال، لماذا عندما تعادل الأهلي مع الهلال السوداني لم يحدث بلبلة ولا انتقادات؟، ماذا تريدون من الزمالك ومرتضى منصور؟، هل ستستمرون على هذا الأمر 4 سنوات؟، أنتم لم تتحملوني وأنا لم أبدأ”.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has suggested that it is still Southampton’s plan to sign Theo Walcott on a permanent basis this summer, which would be a huge mistake considering his less than impressive form since joining on loan from Everton.

The 32-year-old winger is out of contract with the Toffees this summer and reports suggest that he will join the Saints on a permanent basis ahead of next season, having spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan with the south coast club.

When asked about the possibility of the former Arsenal man joining this summer, Hasenhuttl said: “I think in the games he played he has shown that he was an important part of our game – especially his workload and effort.

“He’s a very professional guy and, as I always say, I was happy he was coming here and I still think he’s a player that can help us in the next few years.

“If he’s not always playing from the beginning, then he’s still such a good character that he supports the team whenever he needs to. I think this is for me a very important part for giving him a new contract or not.”

The Englishman has made 19 appearances in the Premier League this season, contributing just two goals and three assists, which has led to him averaging a less than impressive 6.54 average match rating for his performances from WhoScored.

Following last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Liverpool, Hampshire Live’s Tom Leach gave him a measly three in his player ratings, writing that “his form seems to have vanished during the second half of the season”.

This ranks him as the 10th-best performer in Hasenhuttl’s squad so far this season, so it would be difficult to claim that Walcott has set the world alight and is deserving of a permanent contract.

Although the experienced winger is likely to take a significant pay cut on the £100,000 per week he reportedly earns at Everton in order to join Southampton this summer, there will surely be better, younger and cheaper options for the Saints to seize upon, and it feels as this signing is for Walcott’s benefit rather than Southampton’s.

The £5.4m-rated winger will likely have no resale value either, as he will probably finish his career with the Saints, so his permanent signing doesn’t really make any sense from a financial perspective.

Therefore, when you consider all of these factors, along with his less than impressive recent form, it is certainly fair to suggest that Hasenhuttl is heading for a big mistake by offering him a permanent contract.
