O Botafogo conquistou o título da Série B e tem bons motivos para comemorar. No entanto, é importante tirar uma lição do passado. O clube foi rebaixado em 2002, esteve na Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro no ano seguinte e subiu. Novamente naelite do futebol nacional, na temporada em 2004, o Alvinegro disputou pela primeira vez a competição no formato depontos corridos.

A novidade da fórmula do Campeonato Brasileiro pode até ter servido como desculpa na época, mas a verdade é que, pormuito pouco, o Botafogo não fez o ‘famoso sobe e desce’ na competição nacional.

Na edição de 2004 (foram 24 equipes), o Botafogo fechou o campeonato com 51 pontos, apenas um acima da zona derebaixamento. Caíram naquela oportunidade Criciúma (50), Guarani (49), Vitória (48) e Grêmio (39).

Com o acesso confirmado desde a vitória sobre o Luverdense e agora garantindo também o título, os torcedoresalvinegros esperam que o drama não se repita logo no ano seguinte após ter subido.

According to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, Brentford striker Ollie Watkins was “a name mentioned” to the reliable Whites correspondent this week, meaning he could be someone that the Yorkshire giants are indeed taking a look at.

Exactly what Bielsa needs

The striking position is an interesting headache for Bielsa, he clearly likes Patrick Bamford but he shouldn’t sniff away from upgrading that position now they’re back in the top-flight.

Despite hitting 16 goals for the season, Bamford was hugely wasteful and was one major cause of Leeds ranking inside the bottom five for chance conversion – the title-winners scored just 12.5% of their opportunities per Transfermarkt.

Watkins scored a whopping 26 goals in the second tier last season, averaging only 2.7 shots per game as well as 1.5 key passes and 0.8 dribbles, via WhoScored.

Meanwhile, United’s number nine scored ten fewer goals yet averaged 0.5 more shots each appearance. The difference is staggering.

It’s no wonder Trevor Sinclair described him as “lethal” before likening him to Jermain Defoe. His former Exeter boss Paul Tisdale believes he “has the ability and the perfect attitude”.

These are just further ticks next to his name on the scouting list.

His ability to run defences ragged is exactly what Bielsa needs in a striker next season, and the club should absolutely pay up to clinch him.

وظهر مبابي على دكة البدلاء، بعد استبداله من قِبل المدرب ماوريسيو بوتشيتينو، وهو غير سعيد حيث تمتم “هو لا يمرر لي، لا يمرر لي”، في إشارة منه إلى نيمار.

وقال مبابي في حواره مع صحيفة “ليكيب” الفرنسية: “نعم، نعم، لقد قلت ذلك، مثل هذه الأحداث تحدث في عالم كرة القدم، ولكن يجب ألا يستمر ذلك طويلًا”.

The news surrounding the future of Jacob Murphy seems to change each week, but the latest update seems to suggest that Sheffield Wednesday have a better chance of bringing the winger back to Hillsborough.

This seems like the possibility of another loan move could be on the cards, and Garry Monk would surely feel optimistic that the player would return to the Owls as he did very well at the club last season and he also knows the setup so it would feel easier to come back rather than settle somewhere new.

However, with a more attacking midfielder deployed, it’s difficult to see Fabinho being dropped. Instead, he may return to the heart of the Liverpool defence to pair up with Virgil van Dijk. This would mean that £36m-valued Joe Gomez drops to the bench.
