Newcastle are reportedly set to secure a deal for Sweden international Emil Krafth, and fans are excited about the signing.

The Magpies hadn’t had a lot to shout about this summer, but the last few weeks have seen three new faces arrive on Tyneside.

The club smashed their transfer record on Joelinton to kick things off, and last week brought a double swoop for Jetro Willems and Allan Saint-Maximin.

Now, French outlet Courrier Picard claim Krafth is on his way to St. James’ Park as the fourth new signing this summer.

The report claims Amiens withdrew the 25 year-old from their squad this weekend for fear of an injury that could scupper the transfer.

Krafth has five goals and ten assists in 147 career appearances as a right-back, and has racked up 20 caps for Sweden, per Transfermarkt.

After both Javier Manquillo and DeAndre Yedlin struggled to cement themselves in the role last term, Steve Bruce will be hoping Krafth makes an immediate impression.

And fans are hopeful he will be an upgrade on the aforementioned pair, as you can see from the Twitter reactions down below…

Andreas Pereira has laid praise on his new Manchester United team-mate Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The quotes follow the north-west club’s 4-0 win over Premier League rivals Chelsea in their opening game of the Premier League season.

Pereira said: “The attackers took their chances but not only did we score four, we didn’t concede any goals. We worked very hard defensively.

Wan-Bissaka made his debut following his big-money move from Crystal Palace.

The England under-21 international has built up a reputation for his tackling style that saw Manchester United splash out £50m on him. Last season, no Premier League defender made more tackles per game (via WhoScored). And against Chelsea, the former Crystal Palace man won the most tackles for his side (6), which was more than double the next player (3).

The Englishman has helped change the dynamic of the Manchester United defence. Compared to his predecessor, Ashley Young, he looks like a very big upgrade.

Wan-Bissaka was far more solid in defence last season as he averaged more tackles per game than Young, so he will certainly help a Man United defence that shipped 54 goals, the most conceded out of the top-nine clubs.

If the right-back competes to a similar level for the rest of the season and Harry Maguire also keeps on performing, the Old Trafford giants can finally have a defence to be proud of.

Crystal Palace embark on their first away game of the season this weekend when they travel to Bramall Lane to take on Sheffield United.

The Blades managed to grab a point on their return to the Premier League courtesy of a late, late strike from the prolific Billy Sharp, which saw them draw 1-1 with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Palace got their own campaign underway with a 0-0 draw against Everton, where Wilfried Zaha was the man in the spotlight having handed in a transfer request to force through a move to Goodison Park.

We think that the former England manager will stick with 10 out of the 11 players he chose to start against the Merseysiders, with the only change being Zaha for Jordan Ayew.

The Ghanaian was excellent against Everton and was voted as Man of the Match by the fans, but having a target man like Christian Benteke in the side is crucial – we think Zaha will be the man to operate close to the Belgian and look to cause the Blades some issues.

At the back, Mamadou Sakho and James Tomkins still aren’t fit to play, although Jeffrey Schlupp has recovered from his injury to be available for selection.

New signings James McCarthy, Gary Cahill and Victor Camarasa all played in an Under 23s game on Monday and came through it unscathed, so they are all available for selection if Hodgson wants to call upon any of them.

We think that he will stick with what worked fairly well against the Toffees however, meaning that a back four of Joel Ward, Martin Kelly, Scott Dann and Patrick van Aanholt will line up behind a midfield trio of Luka Milivojevic, James McArthur and Max Meyer.

The Argentina international was involved in talks with the Red Devils over a potential swap deal that would have seen Romelu Lukaku head to Juventus.

However, a proposed move fell through after claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were not interested in satisfying the 5 foot 10 star’s wage demands.

Now, The Athletic have revealed Ed Woodward pulled the plug on a deal amid fears history could repeat itself, and that Dybala would simply become another Sanchez in terms of being on huge wages and delivering very little.

Smart decision

Make no mistake about it, Dybala would have represented a significant upgrade on United’s woefully out-of-form Jesse Lingard. Although to be fair that wouldn’t exactly take much.

But the Red Devils’ reported thinking in backing away from a move makes it far more palatable in terms of why the club would take such a decision. United have been severely burned by their signing of Sanchez, effectively paying the Chilean a ridiculous amount of money to sit on the side-lines. The move has turned out so bad that the 30-year-old is now being shipped out on loan to Inter, with Solskjaer’s side still covering a huge portion of the wages.

So, Woodward’s hesitation in taking another risky plunge on a superstar player is entirely understandable and should be applauded, not bashed.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Denis Irwin has insisted Paul Pogba is “vitally important” to Manchester United’s chances of success this season.

What did he say?

The France World Cup winner was the subject of intense transfer speculation over the course of the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting Real Madrid were intent on signing him.

However, a move away for the 26-year-old failed to materialise, and Irwin has now revealed Pogba’s ability on the ball marks him out as a “big, big player” for the club.

He said: “There’s not too many players of Paul’s quality. He’s got plenty of players in front of him who have got great pace and I think he’s got the understanding of being able to pick a great pass.

“We need consistency out of him sometimes but going forward now and particularly where we’ve started dominating games he’s going to be a big, big player for us. I think every team needs a risk taker but I look at him and think he’s the one that can unlock doors.

“We’ve created enough chances to win games so he’s going to be vitally important for us.”

Narrative

Pogba’s transfer saga dominated the headlines this summer, and then his role in the penalty debacle against Wolves cast an even bigger shadow over his United future. The Frenchman undoubtedly has his critics, but scratch beyond the surface, and the 26-year-old has arguably been one of the Red Devils’ better performers this season.

United legend Paul Scholes criticised the former Juventus star for giving the ball away far too many times against Southampton, but what didn’t get mentioned was the fact he played four key passes – the highest of any player in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Pogba’s willingness to try those high-risk, high-reward passes means he is always likely to have a lower passing accuracy. But as was the case for Marcus Rashford’s second goal against Chelsea, when he does get his range right, it can be such a devastating attacking weapon for United.

Out of players who have played more than two games in the Premier League this season for the Red Devils, Pogba’s average of 2.8 key passes per game is more than double that of the man below him, Luke Shaw.

If United are to unlock defences and score goals this season, the Frenchman will have to be at his risk-taking best.

وتابع: “إذا فزنا بـ 15 أو 20 مباراة متتالية، يستمع الناس إلي ويقولون يا إلهي، ما نوع العبقرية التي يقولها، عندما لا نفوز بالمباريات، يمكنني أن أقول نفس الأشياء بالضبط وسيكون رد فعل الناس، نعم، نعم، نعم، فقط تأكد من فوزك بالمباراة”.

وأردف: “لا توجد مشكلة على الإطلاق، أنا مسؤول عن هذا، ليس فقط الآن ولكن خلال السنوات القليلة المقبلة أيضًا، ولهذا السبب لن ندع هذا الوقت يمر دون الحصول على القليل من الفائدة منه، لا يمكننا إثبات ذلك الآن لأننا ما زلنا في الموقف، سيتعين علينا إثبات ذلك بعد قليل”.
