Cyclone Gabrielle prevents NZ squad members from reaching Mount Maunganui

New Zealand began their preparations for the first Test against England without a full deck as Cyclone Gabrielle wreaked havoc on the travel plans of a number of their squad members. They trained on Monday morning at Bay Oval without Tom Blundell, Henry Nicholls, Matt Henry, Will Young, Blair Tickner and three support staff after sweeping rains and high winds caused widespread disruptions across the North Island.New Zealand Cricket confirmed that Tickner and Young were on their way by car from Napier, while Nicholls was due to arrive on Thursday from Christchurch (South Island) after his original flight was cancelled. Blundell is currently with his family in Wellington following the birth of his second child. Henry, meanwhile, is in Christchurch awaiting the birth of his first child and there is uncertainty over when he would be able to join the rest of the squad.Situated on the eastern entrance to the Tauranga Harbour, Mount Maunganui has not been as badly affected by the cyclone, but inclement weather meant training for both teams took place in the Bay Oval Indoor Grass Training Facility. New Zealand had originally planned for an evening training session but were advised to shift their plans forward with winds expected to worsen. While there is a forecast for a break in the rain on Wednesday, further disruptions are expected when the day-night Test gets underway on Thursday.Though international long-haul flights have been given the go-ahead to land in Auckland on Monday, scores of short-haul local flights have been cancelled. Air New Zealand has cancelled all its domestic flights until Tuesday. All regional flights in and out of Tauranga (which services Mount Maunganui), Hamilton and Taupo have also been cancelled for the same period.”We’ve got a number of players that are still arriving here at the moment,” New Zealand coach Gary Stead said. “So the cyclone that’s happening at the top of the North Island has had a wee bit of an impact on travel for some people. It’s disappointing the weather the way it is but there’s a lot of people up at the top of the North Island who are a lot worse off than us.”The weather has also meant the Powhiri (a Maori welcoming ceremony) scheduled for February 14 has been cancelled.

Everton and Friedkin Group racing to sign 18 y/o forward ahead of Liverpool

Looking ahead to their first summer at the helm, The Friedkin Group are now reportedly battling to sign a young attacking sensation for Everton after sending their scouts to watch him in action.

Everton transfer news

All but safe in the Premier League courtesy of David Moyes’ arrival to signal an impressive turnaround, Everton now have the chance to set their sights on moving beyond relegation scraps once and for all. And that could see them enjoy a fruitful summer transfer window, having already been linked with moves for the likes of Hamza Igamane.

The Rangers star has enjoyed an excellent season in a struggling star and could now be on the move amid interest from Merseyside and elsewhere. There’s no doubt that the Toffees could do with an attacking boost too, given how Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jack Harrison have struggled, with the latter only finding his first goal of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out.

Igamane isn’t the only attacking target that Friedkin have seemingly set their sights on, either, as they look to take the Toffees back into the top half of the Premier League in their first full season in charge.

According to The Boot Room, Everton have now joined the race to sign Sindre Walle Egeli from Nordsjaelland this summer after Friedkin sent their scouts to watch the young winger in action.

Moyes has discovered his next Fellaini in "unbelievable" Everton star

David Moyes might have his second iteration of Marouane Fellaini on his hands at Everton.

1 ByKelan Sarson Mar 11, 2025

A rising star who would be an instant upgrade on Harrison, Egeli has found himself at the centre of interest of rivals Liverpool, Newcastle United and those at Goodison Park, sparking quite the battle between Premier League sides ahead of the summer.

Still just 18 years old, Everton would certainly be wise to act as early as possible if they want to stay within range of the winger’s price tag, which is only likely to increase over time.

"Strong" Egeli could become instant Everton starter

Whilst Egeli’s age may suggest that he would need time to settle before breaking into Moyes’ starting side, Everton’s disjointed and struggling set of options going forward means that there’s room for a rising star of his calibre. It wouldn’t be the first time that he’s been thrown into a senior role either, and last time he certainly didn’t sink. Instead, he has thrived at Nordsjaelland.

Scoring six goals and assisting another five in all competitions so far this season, Egeli has more goal involvements than Harrison and Calvert-Lewin combined, highlighting both the struggles of Everton’s attack and the potential of the young Norwegian.

Everton's DominicCalvert-Lewincelebrates scoring their first goal

Earning plenty of praise as a result, analyst Ben Mattinson described Egeli as a “tall, strong left-footed” player with “brilliant finishing and ball striking”.

All signs point towards stardom for a target that would transform Moyes’ frontline for years to come. Amid plenty of interest elsewhere, it would represent a major coup if Everton managed to secure Egeli’s signature this summer.

Having set their ambitions beyond simply maintaining their Premier League place, signing a rising star would certainly be a good way for Friedkin to commence their summer business.

> Confira classificação, jogos e simule resultados do Brasileirão-22

COMEÇO SOLTO DO FLU

"Brilliant" Celtic ace with 6 Old Firm goals now set to return vs Rangers

As Celtic go in pursuit of adding insult to injury against a Rangers side they have blown away in the Scottish Premiership this season, one key man is set to return from injury.

Celtic team news confirmed for Old Firm derby

Currently sat as many as 16 points clear of the Gers in Scotland’s top flight, Celtic are set to be crowned champions once again to make it two from two for Brendan Rodgers in his second stint in charge of the Bhoys. With the Old Firm clash up next too, they have the chance to turn 16 into 19 and deal their rivals another frustrating blow.

Entering the derby off the back of eliminating Fenerbahce from the Europa League and reaching the last eight, Rangers will have a point to prove up against Celtic, however, who will still need to be at their best.

With that said, one particular piece of injury news has certainly arrived at the perfect time in pursuit of victory. As confirmed by Brendan Rodgers, James Forrest is now set to return from injury against Rangers this Sunday.

Celtic are now worried that their most valuable player will exit in 2025

This would be a big setback for Brendan Rodgers.

ByHenry Jackson Mar 15, 2025

Rodgers told reporters when asked about team news: “How’s the squad? Yeah, all good. We’ve had a good week, so one more day to go. One or two we are just assessing. Callum (McGregor), obviously he’s had a similar week to last week, and we’ll make a decision on him tomorrow.

“Obviously, James Forrest is back in the squad, which is really good. Paulo Bernardo is still a little bit away. Liam Scales, he’s obviously had an issue with his cheekbones, so we’re just waiting to finalise whether he needs an operation or not. So he will be doubtful for the game, but apart from that, it’s the same squad.”

"Brilliant" Forrest returning at perfect time

One of the most experienced players that Rodgers has to pick from and a modern-day Celtic legend with 12 Scottish Premiership titles to his name, Forrest’s return comes at the perfect time. The 33-year-old will be relieved to be back in time to face Rangers too, having scored six Old Firm derby goals during his time at Celtic Park.

Rodgers needs no reminder of the winger’s quality, either, having been full of praise when asked about Forrest last season – telling reporters: “He’s been a brilliant servant of the club.

Celtic winger James Forrest.

“And of course, it’s probably been difficult for him the last couple of years, not playing maybe as much as he wants. But I’ve always said in terms of quality and wing-play, he’s our best winger.”

Almost into the final year of his contract, Forrest looks destined to add at least one more title to his name before perhaps retaining that crown in his final campaign at Celtic next season.

Rishi Patel, Wiaan Mulder hundreds steer Leicestershire to safety

Sussex unable to bowl out hosts for a second time having enforced follow on

Hundreds from Rishi Patel and Wiaan Mulder steered Leicestershire to a draw against Sussex after being asked to follow on, preserving their unbeaten record in Division Two of the LV= Insurance County Championship.Dismissed for 270 in reply to their opponents’ 430 late on Saturday evening, they were in early trouble at 65 for 4 as Sussex chased a second win of the season. But after Patel had made 100 from 157 balls, the third century of a season he began with none to his name, South Africa allrounder Mulder saw them to safety with an unbeaten 102 to go with his five wickets in the Sussex innings. He had valuable support from young allrounder Tom Scriven, who contributed 51 not out to a seventh-wicket stand worth an unbroken 99 in 23 overs before the teams shook hands on a draw with 20 overs unbowled and Leicestershire 135 runs in front.Sussex’s four-man seam attack had their moments, with 21-year-old Henry Crocombe looking sharp at times, but with Ari Karvelas and Brad Currie both making their first appearances of the season, they could not find the outstanding individual performance that was probably needed to fashion a victory, and missed two chances to dismiss Patel before he had reached fifty.Leicestershire had looked in danger of succumbing to the kind of rapid disintegration to which they were prone last year when a solid start to their follow-on was wrecked by the loss of four quick wickets midway through the morning session.Six without loss overnight, having failed by just 11 runs to meet the avoidance target on Saturday, they advanced to 48 without too many alarms in the first 40 minutes of play, dealing relatively comfortably with a new-ball attack of Karvelas and Currie. But after a major let-off when an edge offered by Patel on 27 was put down by third slip Tom Clark, the next eight overs saw them lose four wickets for nine runs, slipping from 56 without loss.Sol Budinger slashed Fynn Hudson-Prentice into the hands of the fielder at point, the opener getting a send-off from the Sussex fielders that seemed to prompt a warning from the umpires, and the opener was immediately followed back by captain Lewis Hill as Crocombe did enough to induce an edge to first slip Tom Alsop.Colin Ackermann, who scored 298 runs in his first four innings of the season but just 34 in his most recent five, faced 25 balls before he was leg before to Karvelas, getting only half forward, after which Currie claimed the wicket Sussex hoped would be key, delivering a beauty to pass Peter Handscomb’s defensive bat and hit the Australian’s off stump. With Leicestershire still 95 behind, Sussex tails were up, yet they missed another chance to dismiss Patel when he was dropped at first slip on 47 off Currie, who also had a strong appeal for leg before against him turned down in his next over. The home side were still up against it at lunch, 69 in arrears, yet there was always a suspicion that a Sussex attack lacking both Ollie Robinson and Nathan McAndrew might struggle to bowl Leicestershire out twice, especially in improving weather conditions and with their opponents concerned only with saving the game.Indeed, the two chances created but not taken against Patel began to look costly as the tall right-hander went on to complete a third century of a season in which only the Sussex captain, Cheteshwar Pujara, has more than his 517 runs in Division Two.It was by no means flawless, quite apart from the two drops, but on the occasions he made good contact with the ball it could go a long way without much obvious muscle behind it, witnessed in three sixes, one back over the head of Karvelas, another lofted over the leg-side boundary off Hudson-Prentice, the other over long-on off spinner James Coles. After reaching the milestone off 154 balls with his 16th four, Patel rather gave his wicket away, pushing at a ball from Currie in the same over that he had no need to play, giving first slip a comfortable catch. Nonetheless, his partnership with Mulder had added 122 runs, a sizeable stride towards safety.Yet when Rehan Ahmed was out three overs later, brilliantly caught by a diving Steve Smith at second slip off Crocombe, Leicestershire were vulnerable again, six down and just 36 in front, with still 43 overs remaining.Another setback in the 10 overs remaining before tea would have buoyed Sussex still further but in the end it was Leicestershire’s rediscovered resilience that prevailed.Mulder, who made 689 Championship runs last season but came into this match with a top score of 11 in six innings this year, followed his five first-innings wickets by regaining his touch with the bat and it was he as much as Patel who was the game-saver, facing 167 balls and going to his hundred with his 16th four, his 15th having come of the one over bowled by Smith.

E o Matheus Pereira?

+Mazzuco avalia janela do Botafogo e traça meta do clube no Brasileirão

Real Madrid make "fresh" Martin Zubimendi move that "will rock" Arsenal

Real Madrid are reportedly stepping up their interest in Spain international midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who’s a top summer transfer target for Arsenal, with the La Liga title contenders also making a new manoeuvre for the player which may worry Mikel Arteta’s side.

Arsenal open talks to sign Martin Zubimendi in pre-summer deal

Since the January transfer window, Arsenal have been attempting to wrap up a deal for Zubimendi pre-summer.

Arteta's dream signing: £120m striker now expresses desire to join Arsenal

Mikel Arteta’s top target has now made it clear he wants to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

3 ByDominic Lund Mar 26, 2025

It was first reported by The Mail that Arsenal had entered advanced talks for Zubimendi in the winter, and the Real Sociedad star would come in to fill the void left by Thomas Partey and Jorginho, who are set to leave the Emirates at the end of this season when their contracts expire.

According to other reports since then, Arsenal remain hopeful of reaching an agreement for Zubimendi before the beginning of this summer window, which is slowly approaching with just nine games left to play in the Premier League.

However, while new Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta is said to be determined to seal Zubimendi’s signature, it is by no means a done deal for the 26-year-old yet, despite negotiations rumoured to be going on for the last few months.

Arsenal have verbally agreed broad terms with Zubimendi, according to reliable journalist Ben Jacobs, but there is still every chance that another club could swoop in and spoil Arteta’s chances of landing him, and he could even decide to remain at Sociedad like he did last summer.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Liverpool and Real Madrid have all been credited with interest in the Spaniard, as per Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, so Arteta faces stiff competition from a host of elite sides.

One of their rivals for his signature, Real Madrid specifically, are also now beginning to pose a serious threat to Arsenal.

Real Madrid make "fresh" Martin Zubimendi move that "will rock" Arsenal

That is according to journalist Graeme Bailey and The Boot Room, who report that Carlo Ancelotti’s side are now ramping up talks with the player’s representatives in an attempt to hijack the north Londoners.

As per TBR and Bailey, Real Madrid are now making it clear to Zubimendi that they want him at the Bernabeu this summer, in a “fresh” move that “will rock” Arsenal.

Their serious presence in the race for Zubimendi does come as a concern for Arteta, and it is believed they’re fully aware of the threat they pose. It is also a key reason why they attempted to sign him last summer, but now it appears Arsenal will have to beat off competition from Europe’s most alluring club.

Zubimendi’s contract contains a £50 million release clause, which Arsenal are prepared to trigger (Fabrizio Romano), but the main difficulty in this transfer is convincing Zubimendi to swap Spain for England.
