Brighton and Hove Albion starlet Moises Caicedo is “very interested” in joining Arsenal this summer, according to journalist Charles Watts.

Who will Arsenal sign this summer?

Of the plethora of targets linked with a move to north London recently, Caicedo features among the most prominent, with reports suggesting that central midfield additions are of top priority.

Arsenal missed out on a first league title in nearly 20 years to Man City last season, despite being in pole position for much of the campaign, and it is the task of transfer chief Edu to back Mikel Arteta with fresh faces.

There is a case to be made that injuries to the likes of William Saliba hampered their momentum towards the back end of 2022/2023 – emphasizing the need to strengthen in key areas.

Premier League stars are attracting serious interest from Arsenal, namely West Ham’s Declan Rice and City captain Ilkay Gundogan, with Caicedo also regularly mentioned by the press.

As well as the aforementioned names, the Gunners could look abroad for right-back signings, as Galatasary’s Sacha Boey and Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda enter the forefront of Arsenal’s thinking.

Going back to Caicedo, reliable reporter Watts, formerly of GOAL and football.london, has shared an update on Arsenal’s links to the 21-year-old.

Ecuador’s star, who has dazzled for Brighton last season under Roberto De Zerbi, is apparently “very interested” in joining Arsenal.

However, while he is open to a north London move, Arteta and co may have to act quickly as Chelsea are also very much in the frame to sign him.

Who is Moises Caicedo?

The South American ace, who featured at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar last year, has been called one of Brighton’s “exceptional” players by members of the press.

As per WhoScored, this certainly holds up, with Caicedo standing out as a key defensive player last season.

The midfield enforcer averaged more tackles and interceptions per 90 than any other Brighton star over 2022/2023, backing his real quality and imperiousness in front of a back four.

If Arsenal are indeed keen to provide some cover in that position, Caicedo may well stand out as a real potential asset, though reports suggest the Gunners may have to spend around £70 million.

ولكن الصحيفة الكتالونية أفادت بأن الحارس الألماني لم يتلق أي عروض في الفترة الماضية، وذلك من خلال تأكيدات لبعض المصادر المقربة لها من تير شتيجن.

وأكدت “موندو ديبورتيفو” أن برشلونة سعيد بتواجد تير شتيجن ضمن صفوفه وكونه الحارس الأساسي في السنوات الماضية.

ويلعب تير شتيجن مع برشلونة منذ 10 سنوات تقريبًا بعدما انتقل إليه من صفوف بوروسيا مونشنجلادباخ ولكنه كان دائمًا موضع اهتمام خاصة من أندية الدوري الإنجليزي مثل ليفربول، مانشستر سيتي وتشيلسي.

Leeds United winger Jack Harrison could decide to leave the club during the summer transfer window, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Is Harrison's Leeds future in doubt?

The £50,000-a-week Englishman was part of a Whites team that suffered a demoralising season in the Premier League, eventually being relegated after a string of poor performances and results.

Like so many players, it could be Harrison feels he could have done more during the campaign, in terms of all-round impact, with only five goals coming his way in 36 league appearances, as well as seven assists, in fairness.

That being said, the 26-year-old remains an important player for Leeds, and while his current deal doesn't expire until well into the future, in 2028, the Whites could find it extremely difficult to keep hold of him this summer.

What's the latest on Harrison?

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones admitted that Harrison could leave Leeds before the start of the 2023/24 season, enjoying a new challenge elsewhere instead:

"It's going to be a big summer for Harrison to consider whether he does want to stay. He's obviously got the potential to get out. The early noises have been that he would probably do that, so it will be interesting to see if the manager can change that."

Losing Harrison this summer would clearly be a big setback for Leeds, considering what a strong performer he has been down the years, initially playing a massive role in the Whites securing a place back in the Premier League in 2020, before holding his own in the division.

He has been lauded as "incredible" by former manager Jesse Marsch, while a tally of 34 goals and 32 assists in 206 appearances is also a good return, especially in a team that has generally been sitting towards the bottom of the table for the last three seasons.

The hope is that Harrison remains loyal to Leeds and does his bit to get them back into the Premier League as soon as possible, but in all honesty, it would be hard for the supporters to be too critical if he decides he wants to move away this summer.

He could feel that he is now at a level where he needs to be playing top-flight football, and he is unlikely to be without suitors during the summer window, with Newcastle United attempting to complete a move for him last summer but failing to bring him in.

Cricket Australia’s head of security Sean Carroll has arrived in Dhaka to observe the security measures in place for England’s ongoing tour of the country. Australia are due to arrive in Bangladesh in August 2017 to fulfil the two-Test tour of 2015 that was postponed due to security concerns.Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the BCB chief, said Carroll’s visit was “encouraging”.Carroll travelled with the England team’s convoy from their hotel to the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur to sample the security arrangements. It is understood that he will further examine the security during the second Bangladesh-England Test starting on Friday.The move is seen as a positive consequence of England’s willingness to tour after being given security assurances by the Bangladesh government following concerns because of the July 1 terrorist attack in Dhaka.”We are aware of Sean Carroll’s arrival,” Chowdhury told ESPNcricinfo. “He came today and travelled with the England convoy to take a practical look at the security arrangements. He will be here for a few days. During the England tour, the Australia high commission has also kept in touch with us about the security arrangements.”It is certainly an encouraging sign, as it shows that they are keen to have a look at our security arrangements and are positive about coming in August next year.”Australia deferred the tour of Bangladesh last year following a government advisory. Cricket Australia did not send their team for this year’s U-19 World Cup in Bangladesh either. With Pepe seemingly already with one foot out the exit door, to spend big once again on another in his exact role would surely mean the end of an Arsenal career that promised much but delivered next to nothing.

On the first day, this Test was on some sort of stimulant. On the second day, it swallowed a sedative. And on the third day, it took a mood-stabiliser, as a degree normality resumed. There was neither the chaos of Saturday’s 15 wickets, nor the dreariness of Sunday’s wash-out, but rather something in between: seven wickets, a couple of rain delays, a Quinton de Kock century, and a fightback of sorts from Australia’s batsmen. But still South Africa remained in control.The situation at stumps was this: Australia had reached 2 for 121 in their second innings, with Usman Khawaja on 56 and Steven Smith on 18. David Warner had made 45 and Joe Burns a duck, and each would consider themselves unfortunate in their modes of dismissal. South Africa’s fast men asked searching questions of Australia’s top-order batsmen, who at last had a few answers. But they were still a long way from climbing out of the hole they dug on day one.At the close of play Australia still needed 120 more runs to make South Africa bat again. That will be their first goal on day four. Only then can they consider building a target, and thus have any hope of salvaging a positive result from the Test. Sunderland enjoyed an impressive return to life in the Championship in the 2022/23 campaign as they battled early disruption to reach the play-offs.

Alex Neil quit the Stadium of Light to join Stoke City in the first month of the season and Tony Mowbray came in to lead the Black Cats to sixth before losing to Luton Town, who went on earn promotion to the Premier League.

The head coach and Kristjaan Speakman now have the summer transfer window to bolster the squad again with the aim of going all the way and moving up to the top-flight at the end of 2023/24.

One player the club have been linked with a swoop for ahead of next term is Universidad Católica prospect Alexander Aravena, who could be the dream heir to a current Sunderland ace.

How would Alexander Aravena fit in at Sunderland?

The 20-year-old right winger could come in and eventually replace Patrick Roberts on that side of Mowbray's attacking line-up next season or in the years to come.

In the Primera Division in 2023, the exciting youngster has averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.08 and chipped in with seven goals and two assists from out wide in 13 outings. The number 18 has created one chance per game for his teammates and showcased his ability to open up the opposition for his fellow attackers.

His form this year comes after an impressive 2022 in the top-flight of football in Chile.

Aravena averaged a Sofascore rating of 6.98 in the league last term and contributed at the top end of the pitch with 11 goals and three assists in 30 matches as a winger.

These statistics show that the young ace, whose intelligence was once praised as "magnificent" by press officer and scout Salvatore Gandhi, has the quality to be a big goal threat, whilst also being able to provide creativity, as a right winger.

Roberts, meanwhile, averaged a Sofascore rating of 6.83 and racked up five goals and seven assists in 42 appearances in the Championship in the season just gone.

This suggests that the Chile international could provide more than him in front of goal if the 20-year-old is able to adjust to English football, based on his return of 18 goals and five assists in his last 43 league games is more impressive than the Englishman's statistics in the second tier.

Aravena's age, however, means that Mowbray would not have to rush him into the starting XI or expect him to hit the ground running on Wearside. Sunderland could take their time with the prolific magician and bed him in slowly as the long-term heir to Roberts' position on the right flank.
