Millie Tipping has become a famous face among Wrexham supporters as she posts videos on YouTube about the team's matches.

She has also appeared on the Welcome to Wrexham documentary series and McElhenney told her he enjoyed seeing her make a cameo in the hit show.

WHAT MCELHHENNEY SAID

McElhenney was asked for his score prediction for the clash at the Racecourse Ground and he expected a 3-1 win for the Welsh side. He also called out co-owner Ryan Reynolds for never making pre-match predictions, saying: "He never guesses the score, I don't know why. I feel like there's no downside, you're either right or wrong. If you're right, you can celebrate. If you're wrong, you can pretend it didn't happen."

The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star was correct in predicting that Wrexham would win by two goals, but his team picked up a 2-0 victory instead of 3-1.

The 24-year-old was targetted by trolls following Switzerland's 7-1 loss to Spain in a Nations League encounter for wearing makeup. Several nasty comments popped up on her Instagram post after the defeat, including one that read: "All that makeup just to lose 1-7 on home soil". Another posted: "Ever feel like a muppet being the only one with makeup on to play a sport."

Lehmann has been defended by Vicki Blomme, from Nordic outlet , as the TV presenter likened her love for makeup to male players' affinity for trendy haircuts.

While speaking to the podcast, Blomme said (via ): "Yes, she plays with her sexuality, but they have done it many times. Look at Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo. I think makeup and personal grooming are seen differently than if a boy does his hair.

"A lot of people think it's vanity, but it's also feeling. The feeling of feeling confident and strong, there's something to that. I think it's good that we're different and that we look however we want. You take some of the attention away from football, but that's how it happened also with Beckham. There is nothing wrong with playing football with makeup, we have to stop blaming them".

The likes of Beckham and Ronaldo have been style icons for their fans across the world, recognised for their sense of fashion and funky hairstyles. When Beckham sported a mini mohawk in the early 2000s to rebel against Sir Alex Ferguson, it became all the rage among school-going students in the UK, which forced authorities to ban it among students. Furthermore, 'noodle-hair' Ronaldo is still a craze and was even imitated by Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. while he was holidaying during the 2021 season break.

The FA confirmed on Monday that it charged City with failing to control their players after the 3-3 draw with Tottenham. Players surrounded referee Simon Hooper after he failed to play advantage when Jack Grealish was sent through on goal by Erling Haaland in the final minute of injury time. Haaland was pictured screaming at Hooper, and he also tweeted after the game the letters 'WTF'. He could subsequently face a misconduct charge, although that is yet to be confirmed.

Haaland's furious reaction came amid a clash with Spurs midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, who scored Spurs' second goal at the Etihad. Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou also admitted that he felt his side had "got away with one" when Hooper blew his whistle as Grealish scampered unopposed towards goal.

WHAT THE FA SAID

The FA posted a statement, reading: "Manchester City have been charged with a breach of FA rule E20.1 after their players surrounded the match official during the Premier League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday December 3 2023.

"It's alleged that, during the 94th minute of the fixture, the club failed to ensure their players do not behave in a way which is improper.

"Manchester City have until Thursday December 7 2023 to respond to the charge."

The Dutch side are back in action on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League against Arsenal. Despite that, PSV will roll out and look to take three points over the English side to end their stupendous group stage.

It's Lotte Wubben-Moy time! Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman must stop ignoring Arsenal star for England following standout WSL season

The Gunners centre-back has taken her game to the next level over the past few months, and with others out injured, she should get her chance to start

There was plenty for Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall to be happy about following his side's emphatic 3-1 victory over Manchester United in front of a Women's Super League-record Emirates Stadium crowd on Saturday. Following a shock defeat to West Ham, as well as an FA Cup exit at the hands of Manchester City, the Swede has been under pressure recently, and the welcome win moved the Gunners back to within three points of leaders Chelsea with eight games to play.

Cloe Lacasse seriously impressed on a rare start, Beth Mead was unplayable at times and Lia Walti ran things in the middle of the park. But at full-time, Eidevall made sure to give his makeshift back four – disrupted by Leah Williamson and Amanda Ilestedt being absent – special credit for the victory, singling one player out in particular.

"We had to rejig and you could see Laia Codina, for example, she has been training really well so she was ready to play. But it is still a new back four to play together. But in that unit we have to acknowledge a player like Lotte Wubben-Moy. We have to acknowledge the level she is playing at this season and seeing how she develops," he said.

"A performance like she has today is incredible. I think it is something the whole club should be very proud of because she is Arsenal through and through. She is coming from our academy, our community and to see her excel the way she does at Emirates Stadium, it is fantastic. I am really, really happy for her and the club to see that."

Getty ImagesStepping up last season

Her manager's glowing appraisal after Saturday's huge result has been echoed by most onlookers throughout the current campaign. Almost every Arsenal fan would agree that Wubben-Moy is firmly in the conversation for the Gunners' Player of the Season award, while a spot in the WSL Team of the Year also seems likely if she continues on her current trajectory.

Wubben-Moy's emergence as a key player has not come out of the blue, though. Following Leah Williamson's devastating ACL injury last season, and with other starting centre-back Rafaelle missing a decent chunk of the 2022-23 campaign too, she stepped up when it mattered, playing near enough every minute of her side's congested run-in.

Forming an unorthodox partnership with Steph Catley at the heart of the defence, she chipped in with a string of vital contributions; none more so than in her side's Champions League semi-final second leg against Wolfsburg, where she provided the pinpoint cross for Jen Beattie's headed equaliser that sent the game to extra-time.

Heartbreakingly, it would be Wubben-Moy's tired error in that additional period that would eventually gift the German side their place in the final, but she did not let this setback affect her performances for the remainder of the season, scoring in Arsenal's victory over Everton a few weeks later, a result that went a long way to sealing their spot in the Champions League for the following campaign.

AdvertisementGetty ImagesReaching new heights

New heights have been reached since then, though, with few defenders enjoying better WSL seasons so far. And it was telling that when Williamson did return to the WSL starting line-up in February against West Ham, it was World Cup star Ilestedt that dropped to the bench, not Wubben-Moy, suggesting that the Englishwoman has risen to the very top of the defensive pecking order.

Delving into the statistics, it's not hard to see why. Earlier in her career, there were concerns that Wubben-Moy was not as effective in possession as some of her club and international colleagues. But this campaign, no outfield player has completed more long balls or racked up more progressive passing distance than her in the WSL.

She is also carrying the ball effectively; just five WSL players (Anna Patten, Maya Le Tissier, Laia Alexandri, Alex Greenwood and Jess Carter) have racked up more progressive distance than Wubben-Moy's 1766 yards this season. And of those players, just Greenwood has registered fewer minutes than the Arsenal star.

Wubben-Moy has always excelled at bread-and-butter defending too, and this has continued recently. Bunny Shaw, Sam Kerr and Rachel Daly are among the top-class centre-forwards that she has kept scoreless this season, and she is yet to make an error that's led to an opponent having a shot this term. Meanwhile, only Liverpool's towering forward Sophie Roman Haug has won more aerial duels.

Getty ImagesStruggling for international recognition

But amid this excellent run of form, Wubben-Moy has found international recognition under Sarina Wiegman hard to come by this season. She made her Lionesses debut back in 2021, coming on as a substitute during an emphatic friendly victory over Northern Ireland, eventually earning a maiden start in her side's infamous 20-0 thrashing of Latvia in November that same year.

Since then, she's been a near ever-present in England squads, only pulling out of a few camps due to injury. Despite this, her playing time has been frightfully limited. In fact, since that Latvia game, she's only managed a single start, a 45-minute outing in a friendly against Belgium in June 2022.

Thus, while she has a Euro 2022 winners' medal, and was a part of the Lionesses' impressive run to the 2023 World Cup final and Finalissima triumph, it all came as a spectator. That will surely change in the upcoming fixtures against Austria and Italy, though.

Getty ImagesTiming is everything

In the past, it's been easier for Wiegman to ignore Wubben-Moy. During the Euros, Williamson and Millie Bright were always going to be impossible to displace at the heart of defence. And at the World Cup, Greenwood and Carter each emerged as deserved starters as the England boss flipped between a back-three and back-four.

But in this camp, Bright and Williamson are unavailable due to injury, and it's hard to argue that Carter and Esme Morgan – who has taken a lot of Wubben-Moy's potential minutes in recent times – are in anything like the same form as her at club level. The same can also be said of United pair Le Tissier and Millie Turner.

With all of that in mind, and with two low-stakes games for Wiegman to experiment in coming up, it is surely time for Wubben-Moy to seize her opportunity.

Chelsea player ratings vs Liverpool: How many chances do you want?! Misfiring Conor Gallagher sums it up as profligate Blues pass up glorious opportunity to win Carabao Cup

Gallagher was not the only player who struggled in front of goal in what was a hugely frustrating day at Wembley

This will hurt Chelsea for a very long time. No matter how many mitigating circumstances – inexperience, bad luck, injuries etc. – you attempt to place on it, their gut-wrenching extra-time defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday was a colossal missed opportunity.

The spurned chances, of which there was so, so many, will be haunting Mauricio Pochettino's dreams tonight, with the injury-ravaged Reds somehow clinging on for long enough for Virgil van Dijk to head home the game's only goal late in the additional period.

In a pulsating first half, Cole Palmer saw a close-ranged effort wonderfully saved by Caoimhin Kelleher and Raheem Sterling had a goal marginally ruled out for offside. Liverpool, had their chances too, with Cody Gakpo hitting the woodwork and Conor Bradley somehow being denied by some heroic Levi Colwill defending.

Incredibly, the intensity was dialled up further after the break. Chelsea let a string of presentable chances go begging either side of Van Dijk's header being controversially chalked off by VAR for an infringement by Wataru Endo. And, in a climatic end to normal time, Liverpool survived a goalmouth scramble of epic proportions, before Conor Gallagher hit the post and then blazed an excellent opening high and wide.

But, after being denied in normal time, Van Dijk would punish Chelsea from a set piece in the 118th minute, nodding home a Kostas Tsimikas corner to send the travelling Reds behind the goal loopy. A few minutes later, with red smoke from the pyrotechnics let of after the goal still covering the Wembley turf, the final whistle was blown and all the Blues could do was trudge off with the bitter taste of disappointment in their mouths.

GOAL rates Chelsea's players from a classic final…

GettyGoalkeeper & Defence

Djordje Petrovic (8/10):

A competent display before making an outstanding save to deny Elliot in the final throes of extra time. Will be devastated to lose his clean sheet.

Malo Gusto (8/10):

Excellent. Made a couple of vital defensive contributions and impressed going forward.

Axel Disasi (6/10):

Made a couple of unforced errors in possession that, thankfully for him, went unpunished. Other than that, he was fairly dominant.

Levi Colwill (7/10):

Got off to a shaky start, but grew into the game and made a stunning block late in the first half.

Ben Chilwell (6/10):

Booked for a scuffle with Conor Bradley on the stroke of half-time. Defended diligently and kept plugging away, but his delivery was lacking.

AdvertisementGettyMidfield

Moises Caicedo (6/10):

Very lucky not to be booked for a clumsy foul on Gravenberch. Went about his work fairly effectively other than that, but wasn't perfect.

Conor Gallagher (6/10):

A potent creative force, but he simply had to take one of the two chances he was gifted at the end of normal time. The disappointed shake of the head as he was substituted said it all.

Enzo Fernandez (6/10):

Tried to be too clever with a backheeled finish as a second-half chance went begging. Played some incisive passes, but not his best display.

GettyAttack

Raheem Sterling (6/10):

A couple of really bright moments and would've scored if Jackson had held his run by a split second. Was starting to fade when he was replaced by Christopher Nkunku.

Nicolas Jackson (7/10):

So nearly provide a perfect assist for Sterling – but was narrowly offside. Caused Liverpool problems throughout with his direct running.

Cole Palmer (7/10):

Had to score past Kelleher in an otherwise quiet first half. Got more into the game as things progressed and carved out some decent openings.

GettySubs & Manager

Christopher Nkunku (5/10):

Just could not quite reach Malo Gusto's cross at the end of normal time.

Mykhailo Mudryk (5/10):

Hardly in the game.

Noni Madueke (5/10):

Carved out one of the only opening on full time with a mazy dribble, but only after his sloppy pass halted a promising attack.

Trevoh Chalobah (N/A):

On for a few minutes at the end.

Mauricio Pochettino (7/10):

He set his team up well, looking to exploit Liverpool's high line with his pacy forwards. Hard to criticise him too much. The finishing on display will have driven him up the wall.

Coleman let Everton down against Brentford

Everton had the opportunity to secure Premier League survival in their game at Goodison Park this evening and instead of taking their opportunity chaos ensued on Merseyside instead.

There is no doubt that Frank Lampard will be absolutely livid with his team after a disappointing and self-destructive performance that cost them crucial points in one of their final games of the season, and now they only have two chances to escape their first-ever relegation from the Premier League.

The first half got off to a promising start with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring his first goal for Everton since August 2021. It wasn’t the most glamorous goal the striker has scored as he chested it into the back of the net but he will claim it after a long-running goal drought.

Unfortunately, Everton were unable to hold onto their lead when the first mistake from the Toffees was made by Seamus Coleman who headed the ball into the back of the net in a mistimed attempted block that saw the captain head the ball into the back of the net to give Brentford their equaliser.

The hosts were handed a lifeline when Richarlison was taken down by Sorensen in the box and the foul led to a penalty that the Brazilian comfortably converted to put his team back in front ahead of halftime.

Everton at the halfway point were in a position to secure safety if they could just hold onto their lead for another 45 minutes. Despite going down to ten men after Jarrad Branthwaite was sent off in the 18th minute of the game the Toffees showed resilience against Thomas Frank’s side even a man down.

In the second half, the chaos continued but not in the home team’s favour as the side went into freefall with Brentford finding the back of the net twice and another player in blue was sent off the pitch with Salomon Rondon only lasting four minutes on the pitch after being substituted on for Coleman.

On the subject of the Irish defender, he completely let his manager down with a shocking performance that has made a direct impact on the team’s missed opportunity to win safety in the league, something you would not expect from a player who is captaining his side.

According to SofaScore, the defender only made a measly 13-passes during the contest. He wasn’t just lapse in possession of the ball, however.

The full-back lost 100% of his defensive duels and made no interceptions or tackles. He also made no attempts to dribble and no blocks over the course of his awful 84-minute performance before Lampard finally called Coleman back to the bench.

Luckily for the Everton manager, the fight against relegation is still in their hands after Leeds United took a draw and Burnley lost this afternoon meaning they still have a two-point cushion above the bottom three.

Lampard will be hoping they can complete their survival mission when they host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Thursday in their final home game of the season.

AND in other news: Huge boost: Lampard drops Everton transfer update that’ll delight supporters

Leeds: Marsch must trust Gelhardt

Leeds United just about kept their Premier League survival hopes alive on Sunday, with Pascal Struijk’s 92nd-minute header seeing the Whites take a point from their meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion – a result that moved Jesse Marsch’s side out of the relegation zone with just one fixture left to play in 2021/22.

However, with both 18th placed Burnley and 16th placed Everton boasting a game in hand over the Whites, Leeds’ chance of securing survival is not in their own hands just yet, although an Aston Villa victory against the Clarets this Thursday will present Marsch’s men the opportunity to seal their own fate on the final day.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-leeds-united-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-much-more-2″ title=”Read the latest Leeds news, transfer rumours and more!”]

And, if the Whites do end up finding themselves in a position where a final day victory would secure their Premier League status for a further year, and Patrick Bamford remains unavailable for selection – something that Phil Hay suggested could be a possibility – against Brentford, it would appear a must for the 48-year-old manager to place his trust in Joe Gelhardt to lead the Leeds line at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Indeed, the 20-year-old centre-forward has so often been the player to salvage something for the Whites over the course of the current campaign, winning a last-gasp penalty after a driving run into the box in the 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers back in October, scoring the winner in a 2-1 victory over Norwich City despite spending just a minute on the pitch back in March and, most recently, providing the assist for Struijk to head home in the dying moments of the 1-1 draw on Sunday.

However, the England U21 international’s involvement in last weekend’s equaliser was far from a regular assist, with the £4.5m-rated forward bringing the ball down under pressure in the Brighton box, sitting Lewis Dunk down with a dummy and deftly chipping the ball over the 6 foot 4 centre-back, before lofting a cross to the back post where an unmarked Struijk could hardly miss the target.

This passage of play saw the £16.5k-per-week talent come in for praise of the highest order, with Paul Merson stating on Sky Sports News: “Gelhardt has done a bit of skill, if Messi would have done it you’d be going mad. Unbelievable by the kid under pressure. Look at that, that is an unbelievable bit of play.”

As such, with Leeds looking as if they will need to pull something incredibly special out of the bag on Sunday to give themselves any chance of beating the drop, should Bamford once again miss out, Marsch simply must keep the faith in his 20-year-old attacking sensation, as it is abundantly clear that the youngster has the ability to provide the Whites with a moment of magic that may just be enough to keep them in the top flight.
